ABOUT · YASSER BENSETTI

Product and industrial designer. Rennes.

I design objects for real-world use: parts that need to last, fit together and be manufactured at a reasonable cost. My background is in product design, I learned manufacturing through practice, and I believe a precise detail speaks louder than words.

01 / Approach

What I believe

  • Design is more than a finishing layer. It isn't there to dress up a solution already decided upon. It starts with a question: why should this object exist, and what is it for?
  • Simplicity, functional logic and clear intent behind every decision. A form is justified by a use, a constraint or a process, never by a trend.
  • Before drawing, observe. Understand the context, constraints and actual goals; identify current uses and those still to come.
  • Every project brings a responsibility : to create meaning, usefulness and a coherent whole.

02 / Practice

Experience

  • Freelance product and industrial designer since 2020: design, prototyping, physical models, 3D modelling, developing concepts into manufacturable solutions, series production and technical adaptation.
  • In-house product designer (Rennes): leading product design, 3D modelling, prototyping, 3D printing and development from concept to production readiness.
  • Model-making designer (2019): models and prototypes, developing form and function.
  • Design and visual arts teacher (2016): teaching design methods, developing creativity and design thinking.
